Fast Company Design: Rio 2016 Olympic Games Pictograms
by Rina Dakanay

Here at AnyPromo, we’ve got more than a penchant for design and logos.  Our graphics and design team is the best in the business. Therefore, when the London and Brazil based design house Dalton Maag revealed their logo for the upcoming Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio for 2016, we’ve been looking forward to see the rest of the visual elements for each event.
Unique to each Olympic Games and host city, these pictograms depict every event and Maag’s complete set for the Rio Games tie in the fluid and rounded aesthetic of the initial logo.
The Maag Team elaborates:

"The bod[ies] of the athletes and sports equipment were constructed from the character or part of them, in a continuous line, with thickness variations to give the idea of depth. The pebbles, which are a feature of the visual language of 2016, support the designs and alter its shape according to the different movements of athletes."

Before we get to Rio De Janeiro, though, we’ll be getting acquainted with the graphics from Sochi Russia.  The Winter Olympic Games will begin on February 6, 2014.  For a sneak peek of the Sochi games, you can find some of the pictograms here: LINK.

Last Minute Gift Ideas : Jordan Flashcards
For the Design Fan and/or Sneakerhead
by Rina Dakanay

Know a Sneakerhead in training?  Do they need to up their knowledge on the Air Jordans?
Former Nike artist, Kevin Lyons, has created a limited edition set of flashcards depicting all 20 of the Air Jordans.  Set and sketched in black and white, the overall design of these cards bears nostalgic and retro associations.
The Jordan brand has been an iconic leader in the industry for close to 30 years.  Retail rereleases of the dated Air Jordans continue to reinforce the brand’s and the shoes’ popularity in the culture with many of the individual shoes selling out in a matter of minutes— in stores and online.
Speaking as a Jordan enthusiast myself, these flashcards make for a unique addition to any collector’s set of paraphernalia!
— BRB, I’m adding this to my Christmas wishlist before it’s too late.

To purchase visit:  HVW8 Art + Design Gallery. (Available for $25).

Download this Free Font: Five Wedding-Invite Font Pairs

Finding the best free #fonts isn’t easy (except when we post them here), but it’s always good for business to have some extra out-of-the-box typefaces within arm’s reach. That’s why we’re always searching the Web for its best-kept-secret fonts.

We’re no stranger to wedding-themed font collections and complimentative font pairings, but we’ve never featured a post that combined the two concepts until now. I guess I’m not much of a wedding fiend, but I do appreciate thoughtful font pairings. This week’s free font collection comes courtesy of Peter Loves Jane.

Above, you’ll find five font pairings that work beautifully to complete each other, as should any soon-to-be-married couple. Below, you’ll find the links to download the fonts.

1. Branboll Small + Ostrich Sans Rounded

2. Corneria Script + Linux Biolinum Capitals

3. Antrokas + Franklin Gothic Book

4. Respective + Bentham

5. Silk Script + Orator (Actually, Orator is not a free download. A free substitute could easily be Miso.)

Creative Advertising Gone Wild: Print Ads for Toothpaste

Ads are a dime a dozen, but great ads are rare. This week, we profile a recent print/street campaign for Signal Sensitive Toothpaste.

by Fausto Mendez / photo by agency Lowe

Signal’s advertising team is on fire with these fascinating print/street ads. If you’ve ever felt the merciless tooth pain from biting into too-cold cold ice cream, the above ad will certainly speak to you. But I’m sure the brand’s target audience has had much more traumatic experiences with their own tooth pain, hence the hilarious contraptions in the ads.

The ads pull the oldest trick in the book. They force the viewer to relive an unforgettable emotional experience in their lives, which makes the ads much harder to forget. Emotional experiences themselves are hard to forget, so if you can call up a strong emotional experience as the viewer watches your ad, you have a pretty effective campaign on your hands.

Your advertising materials, event supplies and promotional giveaways are only as good as your typefaces (and perhaps the graphic designer on your payroll). With or without a stellar graphic designer, the right fonts can make a huge difference, and these hand-drawn fonts should fit into any project that aims for a rough-ish, not-so-polished feel. Get the fonts at the links below (list courtesy of Uber Chic for Cheap).

Finished Work: Screenprinted T-Shirts for #BarkforLife Campaign

AnyPromo’s design and production teams love to show off their #finished work. This is just another project of the many, many projects they finalize on a daily basis.

By Fausto Mendez

Above, our shirt screenprinter is hard at work, decorating a big stack of shirts for the Bark for Life campaign. These specific shirts are for an event this weekend in Southern California, but the Bark for Life campaign is actually a nation-wide cause by the American Cancer Society.

The events celebrate the life-giving powers of cancer patients’ canine caregivers, though I’m sure other canine fans will pass thru to show their support. Check out the finished shirts below.
