Black Friday Survival Guide 101

black friday

The holidays are upon us! Looking to start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday? Check out our tips below for a better shopping experience.

Sign up for emails

Pick and choose what stores you want to shop at this year. Take the time to head over to their website and sign up for emails. Make sure to sign up at least two weeks before Black Friday, that way you will receive the promotional emails ahead of time and get an idea of what you’re shopping for.

Prioritize your shopping list

It’s easy to see everything on sale and want to purchase everything, but take the time to make a list of the things you ACTUALLY want to purchase. List the items in order of importance so you have a plan of attack when you arrive at the store. You can look for the most important things first, then head off to the other items. Along with this, make a list of must-hit stores and shop those in order as well.

Bring a friend (or family member)

It’s always more fun to shop with someone you enjoy, but there’s also a dual purpose for bringing someone! Have them stand in those crazy long lines for a minute while you grab an item really quick, or divide and conquer the items on your lists!

Plan ahead

It’s always a good idea to have a plan. Make sure you’ve done your research beforehand so that you don’t lollygag around the store and miss the important things. Use your list to your advantage! Plan your route with your must hit stores, in order of importance. If you’re going Black Friday with urgency, make sure to have a plan and stick to it, you wouldn’t want to miss out on a good deal.

Stick to your budget

Before anything else, set your budget! It’s very easy to overspend in instances like these, so make sure to have the willpower to stick to your budget, or get cash ahead of time and only use that amount of money. Leave the credit cards at home! With patience, you can find deals all year long, don’t feel pressured to buy on Black Friday.

Remember; not everything is a deal.

It’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy, but keep a straight head about it! Even though some items are on sale for BF they may drop even more before Christmas. Also, remember to check the original sticker price as well. Something may say they’re marked down, but they’re not always a great deal. Not everything will be heavily discounted, so don’t fall for it!

Use shopping bags; no carts!

This might be the weirdest tip, but use shopping bags instead of carts! With all the people rushing around, you’re better off maneuvering with a shopping bag rather than a bulky cart. The aisles are packed with products, and there are more people than usual. Trust us, you’re going to want to use a large shopping bag instead.

Well, there you have it! Your Black Friday survival guide. Whether you decide to camp out the night before, or head over early in the morning; make sure to use these tips to have the best experience possible. Happy Shopping!
