Recognizing Top Talent in the Workplace

A great way to create a positive environment in the workplace is to recognize and reward your employee’s good performance. For some, it’s frustrating to work along colleges who don’t put in as much effort and go without notice that they are going the extra mile. In order to have a happy and productive workplace, it’s important to show that you appreciate these employees hard work.

Here are 5 ways to recognize your top talent in the workplace.


Simple, yet effective. Your top talent should receive some sort of bonus based on their productivity. They are working diligently for you and should be rewarded with some pay that exceeds their normal rate. This really shows them that you are willing to put your money where your mouth is and recognize that their good work does wonders for you. You can also pay out these bonuses after performance meetings, that way their performance is proportionate to their bonus.

Increased responsibility

Take the time to delegate some new, challenging and important responsibilities to your top performers. This shows that you trust them and that you know their efforts will get the job done. You can even use this to segway them into leadership or management.

Educational opportunities

These employees probably already exhibit driven and motivated qualities, so a great reward is allowing them to pursue their field further. Send them to conferences or workshops that allow them to improve themselves and their craft. They’ll thank you for it.

Acknowledge them publically

Praise your employees in a staff meeting or just as a spur of the moment event. It shows that your proud of your top talent and can serve as motivation for them as well. It allows their peers to see the hard work they put in, and can possibly push them to work a little harder as well.

Thank them

A simple thank you goes a very long way. Thank you’s don’t always have to be verbal as well, try a card or a heartfelt email. Just let your employees know that they are appreciated and that their hard work is being noticed. If you’re feeling generous, throw a gift card in there as well.

At the end of the day, recognizing your top talent is important! It can boost morale and create a better work environment as well.  Your employees work hard for you, so make sure you’re putting in the effort for them. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, just remember to let them know that they are appreciated.
